Veranda Pointe aux Biches lives up to its reputation of a family-friendly resort, thanks to its passionate entertainment team, which has set out a rich and creative list of activities.

Whether in the pool or in the sea, Veranda Pointe aux Biches provides guests with a large choice of original activities that can be performed alone or in teams. Head for the sea to take part in the famous kayak race or to visit the tiny “jewel” island. In the swimming pool, Yoan hosts sessions of aquazumba and water polo, and a scuba-diving professional leads neophytes into their first diving experience. Paddle boats and stand-up paddleboards, among others, are available at the watersports hut.

Land-based activities

On the beach, sports enthusiasts gather for a tennis volley or volleyball game, while the more curious flock inside the resort for a number of creative workshops: they can learn the art of napkin folding, get your feet painted, try on sarongs and learn Creole… The entertainment team constantly works on finding new exciting ideas. They also commit to sharing Mauritian culture and art of living by organising bike excursions to nearby villages and visits to the local fruit and vegetable market, cultural sites and other spectacular viewpoints.

Timomo Kids’ Club

Children at this 4-star hotel also have their own kingdom. Timomo Club welcomes children between 3 and 11, everyday from 8.30 to 20.00. It has its own pool with age-appropriate aquazumba sessions. A wish tree towers at the centre of the playground: children are invited to write a wish and tie it onto the tree. The variety of games and activities include indoor craft workshops, sand castle contests, pool games, dance shows and fashion shows sponsored by the hotel’s boutique in the evening. The entertainment team takes their young guests on outings, to visit Trou-aux-Biches’ aquarium for example.

Evening entertainment

In the evening, a lively atmosphere is still on at Veranda Pointe aux Biches, with shows and dancing – an occasion for guests to discover local dances and music, and also watch talented musicians perform international music hits. Dancefloor is open after dinner and the entertainment team is there to dance along with audacious guests. Occasionally, there is live music during the dinner, sometimes played by a sitarist. Teens have a reserved table, on which they can meet with other young people and animators, thereby developing wonderful friendships during their holidays.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches’ entertainment team is an essential part of the hotel’s life and ensures a unique stay for kids, teenagers and adults alike.

Wine fest at the Château de Bel Ombre

After welcoming the owner of Château Lascombes in May last year during a special wine-pairing dinner, the Château de Bel Ombre is hosting two other wine-tasting events at the beginning of this year, securing its position as one of the top addresses for wine lovers.

Château CLINET
Château Clinet

On the 16th January 2016, the Château de Bel Ombre will host its first wine-pairing dinner of the year, in partnership with Mr and Mrs Laborde, owners of the Château CLINET label, who will take this opportunity to educate guests on the unique characteristics of the Pomerol terroir.

The evening will start with a traditional aperitif in the gardens of the Château, followed by a five-course gala dinner paired with Château CLINET wines. On the menu: scallops fried in truffle oil, chestnut cream, veal filet mignon with San Daniele ham, Argentinian rib steak, toffee and hazelnut shortbread… All this will be served with soft music in the background.

Château CLINET is one of the most prestigious estates in the wine-growing region of Pomerol. Located some 40 km on the eastside of Bordeaux and on the right bank of the Garonne river, Pomerol is listed as one of the most favourable soils for the Merlot variety across the world, thanks to its gravel and clay constitution.

Château Leoville Barton
Château Leoville Barton
In March – on the 19th to be more precise – the Château de Bel Ombre will welcome Mr and Mrs Barton for a second wine-pairing dinner. Similarly to former events, the owners will have the opportunity to comment on the different wine pairings and specificities of each wine to the great delight of wine connoisseurs. It will all be part of a gala dinner for which Chef Govinden and his team will be preparing an exclusive menu. More details to come!

Château Léoville Barton’s estate is located at the heart of Saint-Julien, which is considered as one of the world’s finest wine-growing regions. The 50-hectare property of Leoville has a great proportion of old vineyards planted in gravelly soil and clay subsoil, which provides for the best possible quality. The wines are typical to the Saint-Julien appellation: great balance, subtle nose and delicate aromas.

The Château de Bel Ombre
The Château de Bel Ombre

Nestled at the heart of the Domaine de Bel Ombre, the Château is the best place to be for discerning gourmets. Served in the elegant setting of this 19th-century mansion, Chef Govinden’s creative cuisine combines Mauritian accents, local products and original flavours. It is only natural that the Château has welcomed renowned wine producers since 2015. They come along to promote their products and arrange for connoisseurs to taste their wines.

The Château intends to become the Domaine de Bel Ombre’s flagship restaurant in the near future, in terms of service, menu, venue and featured events.

With another series of wine events, Heritage Resorts ensures guests a real gourmet experience during their holidays in Mauritius.
