Veranda Pointe aux Biches reopens after three months of closure for renovation and, in the process, it has upgraded to the status of a 4-star boutique hotel.

From June 1st to August 23rd, Veranda Pointe aux Biches was closed for renovation in order to provide future customers with ultimate modern comfort in a tropical-chic setting. In this freshly four-starred seaside resort, guests are invited to take off their shoes and experience total barefoot bliss.

Renovation brought a refreshing change. Refurbished with wooden furniture and blue shades, the hotel’s common spaces invite guests to savour the simplest pleasures of tropical vacation: rest in the sun, daydream, read, taste the local cuisine and discover Mauritius.

Behind the scene of this renovation is interior designer Paule de Romeuf, back by her fifteen years of experience with prominent international architects. On her most famous project, which is The Arab World Institute in Paris, she has worked with world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel. The concept she has created for Veranda Pointe aux Biches is based on the stimulation of the five senses within a tropical background.

Exotic and modern comfort for a 4-star vacation

The hotel’s 115 Comfort and Family rooms as well as the 30 adult-only Privilege rooms have been upgraded to provide guests with excellent service and accommodation: canopy beds with quality bedding, a nature-inspired decoration with wood, wicker, bamboo and ceramic elements, sleek look, terrace or balcony… and the latest technology!

To ensure Veranda Pointe aux Biches’ guests peaceful holidays, nothing has been left to chance. In addition to the free wireless connection, each room features upgraded linen, bathroom amenities and new TV channels as well as a Nespresso machine and a smartphone docking station in Privilege rooms only. Those small additions allow guests to enjoy home-like comfort in a laid-back seaside setting.

With its tropical-chic look and an even stronger barefoot concept, Veranda Pointe aux Biches is the new gem of Veranda Resorts. Located between two fishing villages on the northwest coast, this charming boutique hotel boasts an ideal beachfront location at a short distance from the bustling hub of Grand Baie and other tourist attractions in the North of the island.

We are a few days away from the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the great golf tournament that will punctuate life at the Domaine de Bel Ombre between the 7th and the 10th of May. Here are some of the latest news in anticipation of this major event.

Get ready for an amazing show! As the first-ever golf tournament sanctioned by three of the main international tours – the European Tour, the Asian Tour and the Sunshine Tour, this golf event will not only make history, but also features the highest prize purse (1 million Euros!) to be paid out for any competition held in Mauritius. Besides, such exceptional sports events come with big names!

Among the ambassadors of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open are Hennie Otto (South-Africa), three-time winner of the European Tour; Thomas Levet (France) who won the Barclays Scottish Open, the Alstom Open and the Ryder Cup among others; and Max Orrin (England), champion of the 2014 National Bank of Oman Golf Classic.

Heritage Resorts is proudly emphasizing that this will be the first men’s professional golf tournament to have a lady as Tournament Director. Pauli van Meersbergen, a professional golfer of the Sunshine Tour, will be assisted by David Williams (European Tour) and Wanchai Meechai (Asian Tour) in the tournament management.

Among the top players are the winner of the BMW PGA Championship / DP World Tour Championship, Simon Khan (England) and winners of Race to Dubai tournaments with a prize fund over 1.5 million euros, Andrew Dodt (Australia), Thomas BJØRN (Denmark), Thorbjørn OLESEN (Denmark), Scott HEND (Australia) as well as Mikael Lundberg (Sweden).

Moreover, the event sponsors are pushing back the limits of creativity to reward the best players. Villas Valriche will award a one-million dollar villa to the first player who hits an eagle on the 17th whole (423 meter, PAR 3). Jaguar will take advantage of this tournament to unveil in all exclusivity its brand new Jaguar XE designed for the African market, and reserves a specialty prize to those who hit an Albatros during the Saturday and Sunday schedule of play: a Jaguar XE R-Sport.

Other sponsors of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open include Heineken, Vinta Bordeaux, Barons de Rothschild Champagne and Samsung.

A public-oriented event

The good news for golf fans is that the competition is open to the public! Heritage Golf Club will welcome visitors during the four days of tournament, with a daily rate or a four-day package. Those who wish to attend the game only need to head to the Domaine de Bel Ombre!

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open also makes for an ideal family outing. Alongside the golf tournament, lots of fun and activities will be on offer at the Place du Moulin on the last days of competition, including wall climbing, a mini zip line, laser tag, quad-biking, buggy rides and a golf simulator.

While children will enjoy the funfair, parents will be able to attend (on invitation only) an exclusive conference on sports and ethics, held by former French Minister of Education and philosopher, Luc Ferry.

Could there be anything better than a scrumptious dinner at Le Château de Bel Ombre to end the tournament in style? A wine-and-dine banquet will be organised at the Château on Sunday 10th May, where the President of Château Lascombes himself will present the fine wines that will accompany the Chef’s tastefully elaborated five-course menu.

Hosting this large-scale competition is the Heritage Golf Club, which was ranked among the top ten courses in Africa by CNN, among the top 100 in the world and as Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course at the 2014 World Golf Awards. It is part of the Domaine de Bel Ombre, which also features five-star Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort and Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, as well as Heritage The Villas.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches will be closed between June 1st and August 23rd, 2015 for major renovation, by the end of which it will reopen as a 4-star hotel!

Veranda Pointe aux Biches will be renovated in order to best meet clients’ expectations and upgrade to a 4-star hotel. The Bedrooms, reception area, restaurants, Spa and Kids’ Club will be refurbished for guests to enjoy a brand new contemporary tropical décor.

The different hotel areas will take on a sleek look, with natural materials such as wood, wicker, bamboo and ceramic used in furniture, completed with a gamut of blue shades to reflect the spirit of seaside peaceful holidays.

Interior architect, Paule de Romeuf, who will conduct the renovation, acquired her professional experiences in various architectural offices in Paris, most notably alongside world renowned architect Jean Nouvel, taking part in the one of his most famous projects, The Arab World Institute in Paris. She then created her own agency in Mauritius and Asia, with a strong experience in the hospitality sector in the Indian Ocean.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches: barefoot bliss!

The barefoot concept has made the hotel reputation… and brought pleasure to every guest! On their arrival, they are invited to take off their shoes to enter a world of total relaxation.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches’ setting is conducive to quiescence. Its Seven Colours Wellness Lounge is favourably located on the beach facing the sea – a unique treat in Mauritius – and the hotel has an exclusive adults-only wing including 30 rooms, one bar, a restaurant and a private pool.

Sand strips fringed with volcano rocks, the resort’s natural pool and amazing sunsets further contribute to the ideal scenery for laid-back seaside holidays.

Veranda Resorts’ distinctive offers complete this invitation to relaxation and pleasure. Water activities, cooking lessons, pop-up moments and the discovery of Mauritian culture and traditions add up to the authentic and convivial experience of the guests.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches’ renovation and new 4-star status is a step forward in the modernisation of Veranda Resorts’ brand identity, which was officially announced at ITB Berlin in February.

Heritage Resorts and Veranda Resorts were present at the World Travel Market in London, from November 3th to 6th. It was the occasion for the two Mauritian hospitality brands to present their new projects and reward their business partners during the Heritage Resorts Award ceremony.

Veranda Resorts launches Pop-Up Moments

Veranda Resorts has seized the opportunity of the WTM to present the brand new attraction it will offer its guests as from end of November: the pop-up moments (Pop-Up Moments). This new, simple and attractive concept is about a bunch of surprises tailored to vacationers’ quiescence. The signature phrase – “One day. One set-up. One feeling.” – defines it all.

Once a week, guests are unexpectedly invited to live a magical and fleeting moment on the beachfront. They can choose between two distinct ambiences to make the most of their holiday retreat.

With Coco’lidays, vacationers are invited to enjoy a 100% natural coconut water drink in an informal setting. Ideal for adults as well as for kids, it allows for a cool break before taking a dive into the pool.

With the Sunset Moments, a truly Mauritian experience awaits our guests as the sun goes down. While Veranda Paul & Virginie will favour a romantic atmosphere for couples, Veranda Grand Baie, Veranda Palmar Beach and Veranda Pointe aux Biches will set a festive atmosphere in line with the local art of celebrating.

During the presentation of its Pop-up Moments at the WTM, Veranda Resorts has taken the opportunity to provide tasting of the so-exotic and trendy coconut water. Coco’lidays was launched in partnership with Coco Up, a Mauritian brand which markets 100% natural coconut water.

Together, they will help him in his quest, and Timomo eventually discovers that he already has the greatest treasures: a rainbow heart where love, friendship, respect and kindness prevail and shine a bright light!

Mauritian identity, sense of hospitality and the rainbow nation are conveyed through this concept. While sharing the cultural heritage of Timomo and his friends, the learn that differences create harmony, and that each one of them is unique and yet complementary to the “Timomo & friends” kids club.

Newly upgraded Heritage Awali

From the rooms to the restaurants and spa, the strategic points of Heritage Awali five-star resort have been revisited this summer to meet guests’ wishes.

Refurnished in a more modern and streamlined style, with soft lighting and new decorative features, Heritage Awali’s rooms set the perfect environment for a relaxing and pleasurable holiday break. Walls painted in lighter hues reflect the seaside natural light, and the bedding was completely renewed for extra comfort. All these slight changes were made with the guests’ optimal and immediate comfort in mind.

New Deluxe Room beach front

New Deluxe Room beach front

Because our guests’ well-being is a key focus, the refurbishment of the hotel’s Seven Colours Spa was one of the major renovations. In addition to the new equipment and fresh look, the spa now boasts a more spacious and stylish lobby. A dedicated treatment room for children and a bridal preparation suite were added to the spa facilities.

At the kids’ spa, our young guests are introduced to a world of relaxation and experience deluxe treatments tailored to their needs. The bridal spa offers the bride-to-be and her ladies an exclusive area where they can pamper themselves and enjoy make-up, hairstyling, manicure and pedicure sessions. It also features a mini-bar for an ultimate private toast before the bride walks down the aisle.

Heritage Awali restaurants’ upgrades

Heritage Awali’s renovation was an opportunity to revisit the concept of two of the major hotel’s restaurants: the Zafarani and the Infinity Blue.

Zafarani, the new Indian restaurant

Zafarani, the new Indian restaurant

With a new name meaning “saffron” in Swahili, the Zafarani is an Indian restaurant inspired by the Holi Festival – a colorful celebration in honor of Hindu deities, Krishna and Kâm. Open for dinner only, this 38-seating restaurant is reserved for adults. Guests will be overwhelmed by the festive atmosphere and typically Indian decor. The Indian-born Chef treats his guests to culinary specialties of North-India, and the decorative elements and copper-brown metal dinner service are reminiscent of traditional Indian handcraft. New ways to appreciate the delicious Indian food are featured: the most curious will relish the Indian-style tapas the Chef prepares in front of them, while couples will enjoy the more intimate setting of the three poolside tables for a romantic dinner over the waters.

Infinity Blue restaurant and bar

The Infinity Blue Cocktail Bar

Major changes were made to the Infinity Blue beach restaurant to enhance the seaside look: while the furniture was replaced, the bar was moved to expand the restaurant’s capacity and offer a fuller view on the infinite turquoise lagoon. Tables for two were set on the waterfront for couples looking for an intimate dining spot. The Infinity Blue Cocktail Bar was moved further down the beach and built on the wooden deck extension to give the impression of standing above water at high tide. With its discreet yet elegant design, the bar is an ideal spot for relaxing at any time of the day. The final touch – and surely one of the most innovative – is the “swing corner” where guests are invited to share a happy meal on swings!

The visitors’ culinary experience and well-being are at the heart of Heritage Awali’s renovation. The idea is to provide guests with a delightful experience that constantly arouses their senses.
